The biggest human problem today is: SHIFTING POPULATIONS … men and women from villages moving away to crowded towns and cites; a whole flock of people’s shifting to a new country, alien to them, resulting in problems and conflicts. This has to STOP! We consider that these cannot be solved except through a New Business—that which closes the gap between the “rich” and the “poor” … a business that would be directly proportional to the closing of this gap. This would need opportunities to be provided to every local/ village man and woman. There are over 3, 500 million people on earth needing this. This NEED would be our PLATFORM for a new Business paradigm. AGRO-BIOGENICS germinated on this theme. Our estimate of the business potential is worth over US $4, 000 billion, when just $150 per head is the incremental income for each of these 3, 500 million people. We believe this new business would answer the twin problems of poverty and global warming, in “one shot”. Further, this new Business, working within democratic constitutions, would not be interested in so-called Tax benefits, Subsidies and other Government/ outside Vested interest Doles. Instead, it would be this New Business that would be courted by others, for their economic benefits and Economic Power.

SUSTAINABILITY AND ECONOMICS OF APIX_30_PILOT

AGRO-BIOGENICS, the organization, would implement the concept of Agro-Polymer Industry Complex-Sustainability Engineered Projects (APIX-SEP) through piloting a small scale Module, based on the Renewable Resources (RR) in a village area of 30 ha to 35 ha. The idea is to utilize all available RR (agro based, non agro based, weeds, grasses, organic/ animal/ human wastes, rainwater, sunlight), to be converted into: Processed foods, Engineered Composites, Methane gas, Energy, Bio-Fertilizers, and Chemicals.

The initial Plan is to set up such APIX_30_PILOT plants in a few Indian villages, to be followed up later in other developing nations. Although the local ethnicity and cultural systems may differ from nation to nation, almost all tropical nations (where we have over 135 developing nations) have near about the same climatic and ecological systems, as well as village systems.

Each such Module (to be named: APIX_30_PILOT) would be capable of providing direct and “full time” employment to 150 able bodied persons in the village where we set up the module. In a country like India, nearly 90% of the people living in the 635, 000 villages do not have full time employment (a total population of 750 + million, equivalent to over 135 million families); and the Government has recently proclaimed a vainglorious National Rural Employment Guarantee Project (NREGP), which envisages offering one person from each village family a total of 100 days job @ Rs.60 to Rs.75 ($1.2 to $1.5) per day! But then, APIX_30_PILOT and the various further enhanced modules would facilitate creating jobs to every able bodied person in a village family (irrespective of number restrictions), offering full time (300 days) employment @ Seven times the compensation offered through NREGP.

The long term plan is to segregate village regions into “sections” of 1000 ha based Village clusters, setting up APIX_1000 that would convert the RR of the entire 1000 ha area, in question. The APIX units in this area range would be named APIX_1000, and may be constituted by about 30 + APIX_30_Pilot plants integrated into a coordinated arrangement. The final systems in APIX_1000 may be modified to suit local conditions and specific local needs. If a country like India is to develop and set up such APIX_1000 programs, we would have about 150, 000 APIX_1000 units all over India – all located in the presently dilapidated 635, 000 villages.

The setting up of APIX-SEP programs would be through a cooperative arrangement, involving the following groups:

  1. A local NGO that would facilitate interaction with the local villagers, apart from providing certain logistics and initial facilities

  2. The local village “Self-Government” … here in India it is called the Village Panchayat; every other developing nation has some such system working in their own arrangements. The program would be so organized to benefit the local society, within the guidelines and support of such Village Panchayats.

  3. Local Entrepreneur/ Entrepreneurs, who would be offered the businesses, for their investments, and risk capital/ funding

  4. International Institutions, who may support by way of various assistance such as “Seed Capital”, Net based support, UN support and the like.

  5. AGRO-BIOGENICS, who would support and facilitate such projects through Open Source Engineering Designs (OSED), Free Technical Know-how support, and long term marketing and managerial support

If you think technology means sophisticated gadgets and hybrid systems … think again! Just look around us at our backyards … we would have the greatest business potentials there … we need to use all available local renewable resources, including animal and human resources, toward solving the needs and problems of local people. This “localization” would be the answer to the present day problems of global warming and green house gas emissions. To us at AGRO-BIOGENICS, Global Warming and Poverty are corollary to each other. Business and industry would have to invent a new philosophy, an economic paradigm that encompasses the whole of the stakeholders, improving the living standard of the majority poor, which alone would reverse global warming. It is not enough to merely offer lip services and tokens that do not actually deliver at the ground level; but we need to effect a sea change in the deliverance so that the lowest workers and unskilled local people are able to raise their standard of living, in a perceptible manner. Doing just that, through a New Social Business paradigm, would be our ultimate Goal

Business and industry understand that Global Warming, Green House Gases (GHG) reduction, Millennium Development Goals (MDG) … and the most “credited” phrase … Sustainable Development are matters that modern businesses have to seriously address. Doing something about these has become not only the fashion, but all these are now the most sought after business themes; every company and business entity vie with one another to make hay while this sun shines! AGRO-BIOGENICS will do business, with all these built into all of its operations … and much more; and all our businesses are dependent on SUSTAINABILITY ENGINEERING … it is our passion

Our philosophy is that business alone could solve these human problems; but we need to redefine business, to include all stake holders in the entire chain … the greatest asset in this being Human Potentials, followed by Renewable Resources in the form of vegetation matter.
